Quiz game
The rules of this game are very simple. The game begins by you flipping a virtual coin and predicting whether the coin will land heads or tails side up. If you are correct then you get 1 point, but if you are wrong then you are given a general knowledge quiz question to answer. If you get the question right then your score will remain unchanged, but if you get it wrong then you lose 1 point. This process is then repeated until you either run out of time - you only have 5 minutes to complete the game - or you reach the 10 points needed to win. The quickest way for you to win a game is to correctly predict a 10 length sequence of coin flips. Unfortunately, the odds of doing this is around 1/1024, which makes this a game of skill rather than a game of pure luck.

Released in 1996 in Japan and North America and 1997 in Europe and Australia, the Nintendo 64 was Nintendo's third console after the NES and the SNES. It sold over thirty million units in its six-year lifespan before eventually being phased out by the introduction of the GameCube. For most of us, it's the iconic games and the next-generation graphics that we remember about the Nintendo 64. When it was first launched, it mostly competed with the Sony Playstation and the Sega Saturn, and you'll find no shortage of Nintendo fans who think it's a better console than both of them put together. From the original Zelda games on the NES to GoldenEye 007 on the N64 and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas on the PS2, we take a look at the consoles of choice for retro gamers across America. You never forget the first time you completed Super Mario Bros. You never forget the first time you held the iconic Playstation 1 controllers. And you never forget when the best way to troubleshoot a game was to blow the cartridge. Times have changed and new consoles have come and gone, but there's still something to be said about those iconic gaming systems that we were raised on. Their games have a unique charm that no amount of fancy graphics can make up for, which is why we turn to emulators and why original NES games still in their boxes go for thousands of dollars on eBay. The infographic below shows the most popular retro consoles by state based on the number of games, controllers, and systems sold in each state from 1999 to 2019. More than 2.5 million retro games in all. It's pretty clear from a quick glance that the Playstation 2 comes out on top, but it does have to fight off some stiff competition from Nintendo machines including the NES, the Nintendo 64 and the Game Boy Advance. In fact, in the North Central region, Nintendo wins as the top manufacturer thanks to the popularity of the NES. South Dakota is the only state to prefer the Game Boy Advance. The Playstation 2 also dominates the south, taking the top spot across all sixteen states as well as in the District of Columbia. The same is true in the west, at least in the Mountain region. In the Pacific region, the NES wins out, taking the top spot in Alaska, California and Washington. The Nintendo 64 came out on top in Hawaii, leaving Oregon as the only Pacific state to opt for the Playstation 2.

Star Wars video Games
Novels, comic books, toys, TV shows, and ill-fated holiday specials have all helped build out the iconic science fiction universe that George Lucas first kicked off in 1977. One would be hard-pressed to find a larger and more enduring franchise than the Lucasfilm IP (now owned by Disney), which continues to enthrall multiple generations of fans. Aside from the mediums mentioned above, video games have also played an integral part in the world-building of the Star Wars mythos. Indeed, it could be argued that they play the most important role, as gaming allows one to take up the persona of their favorite character and choose their own destiny. In a way, you get to become the director of your very own Star Wars adventure. While many Star Wars fans had problems with the first prequel film, no one could deny the thrilling nature of the sequence where young Anakin Skywalker (Jake Lloyd) wins his freedom from Watto in a pod racing tournament on Tatooine. It was a testament to just how far CGI technology had come in Hollywood, and how an intrepid filmmaker could use it to grand effect. Moreover, the scene was a loving tribute to Lucas’s own youth, a lot of which was spent drag racing in the writer/director’s hometown of Modesto, California—something Lucas also acknowledged in his second directorial feature, American Graffiti.

eSports News
A couple of years ago the idea might have sounded ludicrous. The Olympics is considered to be the finest test of human athletic ability. Where would esports even fit in? However, esports could become an Olympic event sooner than you think. The idea to include esports events at the Olympics was initially discussed way back in 2016. The summer Olympics in Rio that year featured an e-games “exhibition.” Contrary to what it was called, the event included some eight teams of international players competing at pro-level in games like Super Smash Brothers Wii U. In 2016, the International Olympic Committee was reported to have engaged in talks about including esports in the 2024 Olympics. A co-president of the Olympic Committee told media that they were “exploring” the possibilities. Ardent gaming fans might see an esporting event at the Olympics much sooner than 2024. Intel recently announced that the company is partnering with Tokyo 2020 Olympics to introduce an Olympic-like event just for esports. Intel World Open—A Glimpse into the Future of Olympics? Intel World Open will be an esports tournament that precedes the Tokyo Olympics, but at the same time, would also be a part of it. Intel is planning to make it huge. The World Open would be hosted for over three days. E-athletes would compete in two games: Street Fighter V and Rocket League. The prize pool would be a highly desirable $500,000. What’s apparently special about this is that Intel is planning the event to resemble a traditional Olympic sport. There would be multiple qualifiers for pros to get through. Intel is planning for local qualifiers and then national qualifiers, where the best four players from each country would form a national team. This team would represent their country. The national teams will have to go to another qualifier in Poland, where a dozen teams would compete to represent one of five regions. (Right now, Intel has the regions down to the Americas, Asia Pacific, Africa, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East.) Those who go through this final qualifier would face off at the Japanese team at World Open. It doesn’t exactly follow the Olympic formal, where qualifying countries, not regions, compete against each other. But it’s close enough. Though a heavily sponsored event, Intel World Open might be the closest gamers get to see esports enter the Olympics. It might even be a glimpse of things to come in the future.
